~ Romeo & Juliet ~

This American film (1996) is a modernization of Shakespeare's play.
The main character fall in love but they are from different families which hate each other; the Montagues and the Capulets. They are represented as warring business empires and elements such swords are replaced by guns. In addition, the film retains Shakespeare's original dialogue, albeit edited down for brevity. As we know, this war between both families finished as a tragedy; Romeo and Juliet died as the saddest way, because the couldn`t be together.

As i mentioned before, I don`t like so much this kind of film but this one really like it, there are some reasons to say that...the first one, because this film was a remake, i think that it was appeal to me. Second one, because every woman dream about this kind of story! It`s a wonderful and beautiful story that every woman want to become in a reality, obviously without the terrible end! Therefore, if i have the opportunity to watch it on cable TV i watch it without thinking twice. Besides, the plot is a reality that happends nowadays too so we could think about these two feeling present in the film: love and hate. We must avoid the hate and replace it with love. I think if you feel or demonstrate love will make us people more relax and happier.

Shakespeare in love

This American film (1998) is a Romantic comedy set in London in the late 16th century; where a young man who was a playwright called William Shakespeare struggles with his latest work "Romeo and Ethel the Pirate's Daughter".
A young woman who likes shakespeare`s plays, Viola is about to be married to another man who Viola , but she dreams of becoming an actress. In that period women were not allowed to act on stage and female roles were played by men. So Viola dressed up as a boy, she successfully auditions for the part of Romeo. Soon both Viola and William are in love and this beautiful relationship provides rich inspiration for his play.

I always watch this movie on TV but honestly, i didn`t like so much...i think this film is like those ones that you can see over and over again and you don`t bore i don`t knw why maybe reasons unknown. It`s true that the film make you feel exciting about love and passion for some beliefs but it isn`t an attractive kind of film for me.

Brokeback Mountain

This film (2005) is an American romantic-drama film. It`s about two men who establish a romantic and sexual in the American West from 1963 to 1981.
Brokeback Mountain is the story of ranch hand Ennis del Mar and rodeo cowboy Jack Twist, two young men who meet and fall in love on the fictional Brokeback Mountain in Wyoming. The film documents their complex relationship over the next eighteen years. Meanwhile, each character has a parallel life, Ennis has a childhood trauma; when he was a child he saw how a man killed another man to be homosexual so he was afraid to show him as a homosexual. The story finishs with the death of Jack.

This is a really sad and raw story. The story shows a reality that has to live some people who has a different sexual tendency. They are discriminated to be different...This film remind me a similar character who had to hid his sexual tendency; he was an Irish dramatist, poet, and writer...he was Oscar Wilde. Also, he lived the discrimination by society, he had a "normal" life according to the society at that time, he married and had children but he wasn`t happy. When people realized the true about his sexuality obviously was discriminated and doesn`t matter if he was a good writer or poet, because he was homosexual and he couldn`t be happy being himself. That example and others show us how still being our society. It`s so unfair that people can`t be a little empathetic with other people...that kind of things make really dissapointed by my society.

A Guardian!

According to Keirsey Temperament Sorter Results indicates that my personality type is that of the Guardian.

Practical and down-to-earth, Guardians believe in following the rules and cooperating with others. They are not very comfortable winging it or blazing new trails; working steadily within the system is the Guardian way, for in the long run loyalty, discipline, and teamwork get the job done right. Guardians are meticulous about schedules and have a sharp eye for proper procedures. They are cautious about change, even though they know that change can be healthy for an institution. Better to go slowly, they say, and look before you leap.

Establishing and following a familiar daily routine is critical to your well being. In your ideal job, you and your coworkers would all share information so that everyone could remain "on the same page” as projects move forward. Because you genuinely care about the people you work with, your colleagues and your customers appreciate your unassuming kindness.

With some description i felt indentify, for example: Guardians are careful, they prefer go slowly and then act. it´s true, in my case, because i have learnt through my experience, i have made some mistakes but i could learnt and be careful in the future. Besides, when i have worked i like to create a pleasant atmosphere where i care about people surround me, i think it`s very important to keep the good relationship between other people and I.

Bruno Bozzetoo

I watched the video that Mr. Litman sent us to our e.mail. I think was funny and all thing about male and female behaviour were true but there is a thing that i don`t like, not in the video, in our society; the male chauvinism. That make me angry, i can´t believe why this thought still alive through the history, an unfair and absurd thought which support that women are naturally less important, intelligent or able than men. the worst thing is that some people don`t realize about their male chauvinism thoughts, because is something that became natural and unconscious.

In a similar way, at schools we can notice this thought, for example in very simple thing; the uniform that women have to wear. they usually wear a skirt instead trousers, why? if girls wear a skirt, they can`t do or play everything. If girls ask someone to play football the answer is NO, because you`re wearing a skirt". the school`s rules deprived girls in a very simple but nos less important thing. Children, doesn`t matter if they are girls or boys must have the same rights everywhere.

June 16th

The teacher didn`t come so we worked in our blogs at the computer lab...the deadline is near: friday 26th june at midnight, hence we hurry up with the blogs.

Obviously, nobody presented today. Next class will continue with pending presentations.

Today, we reviwed the original power point that last class we had to translate into English.

we realized about our mistakes. Sometimes the mistakes were very stupid, i think it`s because we don`t read well, we don`t analyse or we don`t take enough time to read. That activity was useful to notice in which thing we must be more careful.

Mr. Litman told us about the website of the Mineduc, he showed us some mistakes in that website. It`s weird see these mistakes in a public webpage, i would say that it`s a shame.

Educación 2020

As Mr. Litman said before, we had to visit the website www.educacion2020.cl and register as a member. I did it.

Today, Mr Litman didn´t come to class so Evelyn was in charge.

She took notes of the topic for the presentations and their respective dates.

María Teresa and I chose the following topic "How to educate bilingual children".

After that, we had to go down stair to the computer lab and work in our blogs.

Mr. Litman is cold...

Mr. Litman sent us an e-mail, because he is sick in bed...thus he gave us work instructions. First, in group of four we had to translate into English an attached Power point, then we sent our power point with our translation. Next class we will see the original so we compare how we did it.

the second assignment was related with a question that did Mr Litman last class "Are you happy?", we had to read an story written by Tal Ben Shahar of Harvard University, from "revista del sábado" and write in our blog if we are happy and why.

Abril 28th

Mr. Litman couldn`t go to the class but he sent us an e-mail giving instructions about the activity for today.
We have to do a test: "what`s your personality type?" in a website, then we must write and comment our results in our blogs.
Also, we must work in our blogs at the computer lab.

What is Bullying?

Actually, i didn`t see this presentation. I had to leave the class before it finished. because with my classmate María Teresa had a meeting with others classmates of seminar.

So a classmate told me about the presentation. The presentation was called "what is bullying", the members were Camilo and Romina. However, my classmate told me that they did a dynamic instead a normal presentation.

Five minds for the 21st century

It was one of the last presentation (this presentation was in the computer lab). Jorge talked about Howard Gardner and the five theories about intelligences. Actually, i`m not going to describe each one and summary them, i think that is not relevant now. I want to focus in the way Jorge did his presentation. It`s important to mention that he presentated alone the topic, for me it`s a disadvantage, because he had to learn and explain more information that people who did their presentation in pairs.

His power point was simple and bored. He didn`t use any color in the power point and he uses a picture in the whole presentation.

He knew the topic but he was a little nervious. Therefore, he moved just a little at the end of the presentation.

After the presentation, we worked in our blogs.

A Controversial Issue

When someone says: The most famous German politician and the leader of the German Nazi party, we immediately think in a person...for me, a famous torturer...he is Adolf Hitler. The presentation by Cristóbal and Gustavo was about that character. They talked about his biography and some terrible issues related with the period which Hitler was a dictator.

Also, the guys showed us a video at the beginning of the presentation which introduced the topic.

Critòbal was self-confident and he demonstrated that he know everything about the topic...that was my impression.

The presentation actually was a little boring perhaps the topic was bored, because it`s hard to do an activity related with that to keep us concentrating but they asked some questions at the end of the presentation.

As a conclusion, I can say that nothing justify the death and Adolf Hitler demonstrated be a real killer and a torturer as i said before.

New LGE

This presentation was very importat...

first, because i didn`t know so much about the topic and it`s vital to know about your future work! Second, i think we have to have a point of view about it, we must be able to give an opinion as a future teachers and have a stance to defend against anything that we think is unfair like this! It`s not fair that people who studied lees than us, can teach in schools or another institution if they are not enough prepared like us. Besides, it`s not fair that parents who send their children to schools to be learnt, are being misled, because they think that all members at school are prepared to teach everything in a good way....

for me is not fair!

This presentation made me reflect in the poor and sad education in our country:(

Multiple Intelligences

This was one of my favorite presentations. Before to start to mention why i liked it, i must say that i didn`t listen the begin of the lesson that day, because i was late but in minor we learnt the topic so i know and undertand it well.

The theory of Multiple Intelligences was developed by Dr. Howard Gardner. For him the intelligence is not just solving problems. There are eight different intelligences:

Spatial Intelligence, Linguistic Intelligence, Logical Intelligence, Bodily Intelligence, Musical Intelligence, Interpersonal Intelligence, Intrapersonal Intelligence and Naturalistic Intelligence.

The classmates who presented this topic did a good job. They presented the topic very clear, their power point was colorful and precise. After each Intelligences they did a short game. That was a great idea to keep maintaining the classmates`s concentration and the opportunity to participate in each game.

I really enjoyed this presentation.

Wednesday

Am i happy?

Obvious!

i`m not going to say that after read the interview of Tal Ben-Shahar i can say that i`m happy, because is not true. I have already asked this question. also, i can say that some phrases are familiar in my mind.

In my case, after a sad experience, i realized that i`m happy. It`s true that sometimes is necessary live some bad experiences to learn from.

Honestly, a few months ago i felt miserable and i didn`t have any reason to live. It was the worst thing i have ever lived, i was disapponited about people accordingly i don`t belive in anybody.

For me, that was a period and i think it was necessary, i wouldn`t change anything, all those things that i lived make me stronger and make me feel grateful about thnings that i have in my life.

A song represents this period of my life and how i`m felling now.

i hope you have the chance to hear it someday.

"Objects of my affection" Peter, Bjorn and John .

How to educate bilingual children

This was the topic of our presentation. I think the most relevant of the presentation was the
Methodologies to develop bilingual abilities in babies, because was a kind of little guide to help people to educate their babies in a bilingual way. Our classmates may take these tips in case they want to raise their own children as a bilingual kids. Besides, we talked about the advantages and disadvantages of the bilingual children; the last point is very important for me, because we must know the risk of this decision, for example: if parents make a little mistake maybe in the way they speak(fluently), children may be damaged so that be must be aware of that and others risk about the topic. at the end of the our presentation we did an activity related with the topic with the classmates. Sincerely, i think some classmates did not cooperate at all, was sad realize that they do not care about our presentation. on the other hand, were some classmates that cooperated with us, they participated with enthusiasm, that was satisfactory. Also we had a problem with the audio of the video we brought to the class.

Obviously, we made some mistakes in our power point. Mr. Litman corrected us, i took notes about it.

i was very nervious,i do not know, i think it was because i have never been in a presentation with Mr. Litman as a teacher. i hope i will relax more the next time.

Monday

Multilingualism...

The last class our classmates did their presentation. One of the presentations was “How Multilingualism works”. That presentation was very interesting in the way how they made the power point, for example: the way how they used the information, the structure, etc. they talked about the causes of multilingualism ( politics, religions, culture, education, economy and natural disaster) was relevant because these causes showed how that affect us in different areas. Also, as the teacher said before the questions that they used in one part of the power point was: “methodological brilliant” because these kind of questions engaged us and keep thinking during the whole presentation about the topic.
next class the presentations will continue and will be our turn with María Teresa and Estivalia. ( “How to educate bilingual children”).
